Meindl Burma Pro walking boots

These are my do anything walking boots. I have had them for about two years and they fit like a pair of gloves. Although they are technically a winter boot, I have worn mine in all four season. There is a great lacing system on the boot and the tongue is shaped which adds to the overall comfort of the boot.

These are the only boots I know to have memory foam inside which really works. The fit is excellent and I have no problem wearing them for counting grouse in spring although I would probably go to a light weight boot for the summer on the grouse moor. Basically this memory foam moulds to the shape of your ankles after about three to four minutes of wearing them. I was skeptical at first but I must admit it does work. The Vibram sole on the boot is showing no signs of major wear and is the same that is used by the SAS so I’m thinking the Vibram sole is good. The Gore-tex lining provides a waterproof barrier although I’m sure nothing would get through the well stitched leather. This walking boot is still manufactured in Germany. Home of BMW, Mercedes Audi; good solid engineering and that’s what these hiking boots are like. They’re not cheap but then good things never are. The leather uppers are great quality and what you should expect from a outdoor boot maker like Meindl. I keep my walking boots in tip top condition with Nikwax so they are always ready for action even if I’m not.

Note the Vibram Sole, these are arguably the best sole for walking boots on the market.

Had a pair of Meindl Burma boots for several years and they’ve seen me not only up most mountains and walks in the UK but also to Kilimanjaro and Everest base camp. Can’t praise them highly enough. Tried other boots which claim to be of the same standard and they’ve been found wanting. Comfortable straight from the box, waterproof and durable. In my opinion the best boot out there for all day walking whatever the weather. Not cheap but worth the money.
